Chapter 4: The Self and Interaction
Achieved Status: is one we have to earn through our own efforts ( such as an occupation, hobby, or skill) or that has been acquired in some other way. (p. 116)

I decided to do "Achieved Status" because it reminds me of my superhero, "Batman." it describes how someone has to work hard in order to achieve something. That is a perfect example of Bruce Wayne (batman) because he took years in learning martial arts, forensics, criminal psychology and criminology. I don't think he ever intended to be "Batman" at the time he was learning all those I just believe what made him learn all those things is the lose of his parents at a very young age. Unlike most superhero's, Batman doesn't have, what you would call a "superpower" but what he does have is intelligence. Out of all the D.C hero's, Batman is the smartest and that is what makes him so dangerous. Batman doesn't just use fighting to take down his opponent, he used is gadgets that are located in his belt buckle. Don't get too cocky when you see Batman because it will be the downfall like his past opponents.

Chapter 6: Deviance
Criminal Justice System: A system that, like any other social institution, reflects the society in which it operates. (p. 172)

I chose to do the "Criminal Justice System" to represent my superhero, Batman. My hero is a perfect example of the criminal justice system because, like cops he takes care of the bad guys and puts them in jail. Bruce Wayne dedicates his time at night to keep the streets Gatham City clean of the villains. Like most hero's batman makes sure his town is safe for the people who lives in them. Batman uses his criminology that he learned for years to help him with the villains and take them down without destroying his town or the people in Gatham.

Chapter 8: Race and Ethnicity as Lived Experience
Institutional discrimination: Is usually more systematic and widespread, and occurs when institutions ( such as governments, schools, or banks) practice discriminatory policies that affect whole group of individuals.(p. 223)

I Chose to do "Institutional Discrimination" to describe my hero, Batman. The reason why I decided to use this to describe him because in the movie "The Dark Knight" the government classified him as a threat and since they did that he left the city of Gatham. When he left the city, it was not safe because of the decision the government did of removing their "hero". When the government finally realized that what batman was just trying to do was helping the city they called him back and thats what the movie
"Dark Knight Rises" is about. Point is that you have to think twice before you remove an individual or group from a society because it could harm the rest of the people.

Chapter 10: Politics, Education, and Religion
Power: as the ability to get others to do one's bidding. (p.281)

The reason I did "Power" was because it reminds me so much of my hero "Batman". He uses his role as a hero to get villains to do what he wants. Most often they don't listen to him at first but once they get caught the second time they give up more easily or sometimes just give up because of all the power he has. Batman has power but not so much as in to get crazy with it like most people would do if they had the power Batman has. Batman uses his power for good and only for good. He is a great hero that knows how to control his power.

Chapter 13: Leisure and Media
Leisure: is time that can be spent doing whatever you want, or just relaxing. (p.375)

The reason I chose Leisure is because Batman chooses to spend this free time saving his city. Instead of working like a normal person in the city he chooses to spend all this free time at night to make sure his people are safe and sound. He could do something else like relax but instead his chooses to use his time wisely and give a little to his city. unlike most hero's, Batman only fights crime at night since he is a very busy man during the day with running his company. Never waste time that can be spent doing something important.
